Non-GMO cold-pressed canola oil, preferably organic (without chemical spraying), is healthy. Canola oil has become one of the prevalent oils as it is a relatively inexpensive oil with a relatively high smoking temperature and a neutral flavor. Canola oil is extracted from the rapeseed plant. There are many versions of canola oil, some of which are extracted from genetically modified rapeseed plants. Numerous canola oils are distilled by heating, and their color is dark. If you use canola oil that is dark in color, it is probably also the genetically engineered version. It is best to switch to another oil with a high smoke point.
