The evolutionary process gave humans good tissue regeneration capabilities, with few differences between genders: Estrogen (female hormone) protects the liver and enables better internal tissue regeneration to assist women during their fertility. Testosterone (male hormone) affects the renewal and building of muscles needed to hunt and survive in the past. Aging in both genders generates lower levels of sex hormones and mitigates the above effects. Women outlive men due to better internal organ tissue regeneration. (Estrogen hormone dominance during the years of fertility.) It also explains why women are more protected against the hepatitis C virus (HCV) than men and alcohol liver damage.
Why do women outlive men by 6-8 years on average?
