Defecating while kneeling is considered a more natural position since the sigmoid (the last straight part of the large intestine) is aligned downward. On the other hand, sitting while kneeling is uncomfortable; most of the time, there is no good grip either. Seated toilets are comfortable, but they tilt the sigmoid to the side (instead of down). The correct setting is to move the body forward so that the sigmoid aligns downward. The world is waiting for the invention of a new ergonomic toilet that will combine the two methods.
