Do only humans lie? (can animals lie?)

A lie is a defense mechanism of the mind; we use it regularly, at varying levels. Animals do not speak or lie in the full sense of the word, but they use pretense and small tricks, mainly for food and attention. This phenomenon is very noticeable in pets that learn from us.
