Massive floods, with mudslides, are a phenomenon that we will feel at its full severity only in a decade or two. It currently seems irreversible. We still do not grasp the practical implications of global warming and all the accompanying natural phenomena. Within a decade or two, insurance companies will not insure assets at risk of flooding or whose premiums will rise dramatically. Suppose no engineering solution is found to prevent floods (dam system and river water diversion). We will likely see an abandonment of luxury properties on the coastline and shallow river banks, considered the most prestigious places, in favor of remote areas inland, especially on hills.
