The fact that the body attacks itself is a malfunction of the immune system recognizing the body cells as an "enemy." The detection mechanism of self-no-self is directly related to the thymus gland near the heart. The thymus gland is greatly affected by events related to love, heartbreak, and low self-esteem. (Heart Chakra) Of course, this is not the only explanation, but it is significant! Love and support are crucial in patients with autoimmune diseases, especially young ones.
