Unlike traditional Indian (Ayurvedic) and Chinese medicine, modern medicine has no directive philosophy that sets boundaries. In the absence of philosophy, modern medicine treats mainly the symptoms rather than their causes. Medications and invasive procedures, most of which treat the symptoms, have become purposeful; no wonder medicine has failed to treat chronic diseases.
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, you will also suffer a defeat for every victory gained. You will succumb in every battle if you know neither the enemy nor yourself" (Sun Tzu). Sun Tzu was a Chinese politician and a general considered the strategic founder of the art of war.
