The subject is well known to me as a person with liver cirrhosis. A stench of rot wafted from me. Patients with chronic illnesses, including diabetes, must bathe and brush their teeth after meals and before bed. In my view, it is acceptable to ask everything politely. The question is not only what we say but also, and especially, the way we ask. You both should bathe and brush your teeth before going to bed.
